ATPI Africa welcomes Paula Ferreira to the team, an experienced travel leader with strategic expertise and a passion for creating cultures of growth and innovation

Continuing its mission to build strong partnerships and stimulate growth across Africa, ATPI has welcomed a new General Manager to help maximise the opportunities offered in this abundant continent.

With over 30 years’ experience in the travel industry, Paula Ferreira is uniquely qualified to take ATPI Africa to new heights. Her expertise in travel franchise operations and knowledge of the corporate and leisure markets will ensure the team maintains its reputation for providing seamless travel and event experiences across a variety of sectors, from Energy, Mining, and Marine to Sports and Corporate.

As General Manager, Johannesburg-based Paula will be working closely with Pam Kitching, Managing Director of ATPI Africa. In her new role, Paula will not only be responsible for managing ATPI Africa’s day-to-day operations, overseeing risk management, and ensuring the smooth running of multiple departments, but also harnessing her strategic skills. Her ability to develop and implement strategies that drive growth and profitability will be integral to helping ATPI serve the African market in a sustainable and measured way.

However, it is Paula’s exceptional management and relationship skills that will have a transformative impact on ATPI’s operations. Her positivity is infectious, resulting in a happy and successful working environment built on trust, empowerment, and smart delegation. This approach fosters a sense of ownership among team members while encouraging innovation; a culture of continuous learning is the end goal.

Speaking on her new role, Paula said: “I am extremely excited to have joined ATPI, one of the most experienced and well-established travel management companies in the industry. Since joining, I have been impressed by the way ATPI prepares travellers ahead of their journeys, prioritises responsible procurement and governance excellence, and is committed to building a global network united through innovation and partnership.

“I am looking forward to collaborating with colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds to develop fresh ideas and solutions, as well as enhancing my skills through being exposed to multiple different markets. ATPI’s specialist services, spanning corporate, marine, energy, mining, and sports travel, offer an abundance of learning opportunities and resonate with my passion for personal growth.”

Home to the largest reserves of cobalt, diamonds, platinum, and uranium in the world, Africa can shape its own destiny and become a global superpower in the coming decades. The energy sector has room to expand with oil and gas exploration currently taking place in Algeria, hydrocarbon deposits discovered in the Ivory Coast, and opportunities to develop oil and gas available off the Mauritanian coast. Ghana has also been named as one of the world’s leading emerging markets thanks to its central location, established infrastructure, strong oil industry, and political stability.

With its vast natural resources, the continent is in position to play a crucial role in the global clean supply chain with increasing adoption of renewable energy technologies being seen across Africa.

In short, it’s a region with seemingly infinite potential.

Paula Ferreira’s appointment will allow ATPI to unlock this potential. ATPI Africa Gateway currently provides travel management and logistics in several locations across Africa. Its activities are focused on building strong partnerships with existing local partners, enhancing their exposure, and providing them with the opportunity for rapid growth and increased revenue.
