A Year in Review: 2024 at ATPI Marine Travel

Header (15)

As 2024 comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a year filled with achievements, successes and challenges. From product innovation to supporting maritime industry events, we remained committed to reducing the pain points in crew change management, while prioritising wellbeing and delivering measurable cost savings for customers. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our team, the trust of our partners, and the loyalty of our customers.

Themes of the year

At the start of the year, we reviewed four key trends for marine travel in 2024, covering the cost of air travel, increasing sustainability demands in the aviation and maritime sector, the importance of offering added value as a travel management company and the need for maritime employers to consider wellbeing even when their crew members are not actually onboard their ships.

Looking back on this, we see how sustainability continues to lead conversations, with initiatives like ATPI Halo helping our clients measure, compensate and reduce their carbon footprint.

Air travel cost will always be one of the most important aspects of crew change, but we saw no game changing spikes or dips in 2024. And when it comes to value adds, we turned our attention to improving our customers’ travel patterns, as a way to reduce air travel cost. For this, we had something in the pipeline…

New hybrid solutions

In April we unveiled Crew Change Logistics, a holistic portfolio of initiatives that integrates new solutions with expert-based support to streamline every step of crew change travel management. Crew Change Logistics unlocks unique value through five distinct solutions; CrewCarbon, CrewCare, CrewPoint, CrewView and CrewD2D (Door2Deck), which deliver data and insight, as well as decision and operational support during the pre-trip, on-trip and post-trip phases of a crew member’s commute.

Further, in November we introduced CrewHub, our self-service booking platform that complements our hybrid service offering. Designed to simplify complex crew and group travel, CrewHub allows organisers to book multiple travellers from various start points in just a few clicks. By reducing booking times by up to 60%, it is set to redefine efficiency in the crew change travel space.

Events and awards

We extend heartfelt congratulations to our colleagues at ATPI Greece for earning the prestigious Great Place to Work Certification and receiving accolades at the Sales Excellence Awards 2024. These achievements underscore the importance of the Greek shipping industry and our commitment to delivering outstanding service globally.

ATPI Marine Travel took part in several key industry events, reinforcing our position as a globally trusted travel partner in the maritime world. Our sponsorship of CrewConnect Global in the Philippines highlighted our leadership in advancing discussions on how investing in wellbeing can support crew retention. From panels on mental health to case studies on cost efficiency, our contributions sparked meaningful dialogue and showcased our expertise. We also participated in the Seatrade Cruise Global event in Miami, connecting with stakeholders from across the Cruise sector to discuss sustainable and efficient crew change practices.

Any other business!

The global IT disruption in July posed significant challenges in the maritime sector, but our swift reaction ensured business continuity for our clients. Additionally, our first ever Sustainability Report reaffirmed our commitment to balancing operational excellence with environmental responsibility. And later in the year we talked gender diversity with Connie Roozen a member of the Executive Committee of WISTA International.

Preparing for the year ahead, we remain committed to innovating and collaborating to meet the evolving needs of our customers. With the full rollout of CrewHub and continued focus on sustainability, crew welfare, cost reductions and efficiencies, we are looking forward to another busy year booking close to a million trips for maritime crew – the dedicated people that make global trade work!

So, to the seafarers, our staff, partners, and clients: thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to a bright and prosperous 2025! And before you go, check out ATPI’s travel management predictions for 2025 here.
